In the afternoon of November 7th, the opening ceremony of the 2025 international student enrollment and the sixth international cultural festival of our school held in the lecture hall of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Building. President Sheng Hua, Vice President Li Qingfeng attended the ceremony. The leaders of the Graduate School the Student Work Department, the International Education College and the relevant training units, the representatives of excellent teachers and 114 international students from 31 countries of the 225 class gathered together to jointly start a new cross-cultural learning journey.
The ceremony opened with the solemn singing of Chinese and foreign national anthems, with the five-star red flag and the flags of various countries complement each other, symbolizing the encounter and symbiosis of diverse civilizations. As a major highlight of the event, the opening ceremony of the 6th International Cultural Festival was simultaneously, with international students from different countries, dressed in traditional costumes, presenting wonderful programs.
Sheng Jian delivered a speech titled "See the World at Huzhou University, and Connect the Future with Us". He warmly the international freshmen who had come from afar, introduced the profound cultural heritage of Huzhou, and the achievements of the school in the field of international development. Sheng J put forward three expectations for the freshmen: First, see Huzhou University with curious eyes, hoping that the students will delve into academics, make full use of the school's-quality teaching resources, laboratory platforms, and interdisciplinary courses, pursue excellence in their professional fields, and practice the school motto "Understand the Principles and Apply Them" with actual; Second, see China with an open mind, encouraging everyone to walk into the streets and alleys of Huzhou, experience the unique charm of tea culture and silk culture, and the vitality of China's development and the warmth of its culture in activities such as "Seeing a Beautiful China in Huzhou"; Third, connect the future with a of responsibility, hoping that the students will become "living business cards" for cross-cultural exchanges starting from the International Culture Festival, and in the "Belt and Road" initiative the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, convey friendship, share wisdom, and become a solid bridge connecting China and the world
Wang Yuemin, a teacher representative, shared three insights based on her personal experience with the new students: to delve into experiences rather than dabbleicially; to not fear "taking a detour" and to be brave in exploration; and to move from language learning to cultural connection. She expressed her welcome to the new to join the warm family of Huzhou Normal University, and the teachers will join hands with every freshman to embark on a brand new university journey.
WILMOT ISA (Mofan), a student representative from Ghana, expressed his hope that the new students will cherish the campus time, make full use of the platform resources provided by the school grow in exploration, and progress in inclusiveness. GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ (Shahnaz), a student representative from Russia, urged the new to face difficulties with a peaceful heart, embrace differences with an open heart, pursue ideals with a firm heart, and write their own story of study with sincerity and effort
The awarding ceremony of the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students was held on-site. University leaders presented awards to 18 international students who won the scholarship in the 2024-2025 academic year, recognizing their outstanding performance in academic research, cross-cultural exchanges, and other.
After the opening ceremony, Teacher Chen Xiaozhen from the International school conducted a lecture on national conditions education for all new international students.
